Better API Integrations for Logistics and Finances

Customer is a popular name in MENA region. It is the first e-commerce platform solely dedicated to pre-owned goods. It is custom built to serve value seeking, bold and environment loving customers! 

Their aim is to pioneer circular economy in MENA region by offering a specialized platform to sellers of pre-loved goods. Their stringent quality control measures ensure our customers don’t have to choose between value and peace of mind.

Old Website Design

Customer already had a website but the functionalities and features offered in it were turning obsolete with time. They needed a refinished website to deal with the competition.

Lack of Proper Management

Customer’s website included many API integrations and they were not properly managed leading to poor website performance and higher loading time.

What We Did?

The Customerwanted to redesign the website so that variant products could be shown individually on shop, search, category pages, and product carousels.  

We redesigned the page by creating an easier checkout process. A sticky search bar was added to the homepage. Currency moderation was allowed to facilitate a good shopping experience for consumers from different c countries, as well as a prompt for cookies when someone opens the website. 

Furthermore, homepage redesign enabled logistics information flow with SMSA and update order status/tracking at the customer end, vendor panel, and admin against the process triggers. The Logistic flow was created methodically.  

Shipping information was shown dynamically per product as per the country and zip codes. Client wanted a central system to manage order flow between vendors, sellers, and final customers, as they were selling to different countries and through different vendors, to smoothen the process. 

Moreover, we implemented an order state engine that updated order statuses against different process triggers (successful order, cancellation, refunds, replacement, returns, and warranty) which sent notifications to vendors, customers, and logistic partners. This helped in creating the automatic commissions and vendor pay-outs.

The tech stake client originally was using WooCommerce and we suggested to build the custom WooCommerce API to manage the flow. 

In addition, the client wanted to build an API system to manage login/signup, product information management, email trigger, checkout, and seller panels. They were using Dokan and wanted to add missing functionalities to simplify the process of managing vendor commission, creating replacement, vendor wise account management, credit notes for returns, commission, and fees reversal. 

We integrated the system through Dokan and created a flow segregation -allowing warranty claims and returns to independently flow through different options enabled on customer’s profile.

The configuration of the Dokan financial module created a platform to automatically manage vendor commissions and fees such as shipping fees, warranty, replacements invoice generated for each sale by vendor on the platform. Credit notes were generated for returns, commission and fees reversal. Vendor wise account reconciliation was detailed for admin as well as individual vendors in vendor log in.   

Outcome

We were able to provide a scalable system that fits with the ambition of the customer’s team. The client now had a central management system to manage their day-to-day operations. Their third party dependencies were decreased soon after the launch of the newly developed system. 

Invoices and commission rules sets were defined as per each country which simplified the process for the internal team to manage the finances for payouts and commissions management. 

This had made it possible to manage the inventory centrally and ship the product from one country to another.
