Project Overview
Founded in 1975, the Pacific Forum is a non-profit foreign policy research institute based in Honolulu, Hawaii. The organization conducts analysis and dialogue with regional leaders in academia, government, and corporate sectors to drive cooperative policies in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Pacific Forum’s website was experiencing performance and SEO challenges due to outdated web vitals and poor site optimization. The objective of this project was to update the website’s theme while maintaining its existing layout, optimizing for performance, and ensuring a seamless user experience.
Objectives:
- Update the website theme while retaining the current layout.
- Ensure an easy and intuitive user journey.
- Maintain the SEO equity, features, and functionalities of the existing site.
- Improve website performance and web vitals for better search engine rankings.

Project Execution
1. Design and Discovery Process
The engagement began with a comprehensive discovery phase to understand the client’s system, content architecture, and user experience goals. This step involved collaborative workshops to capture business requirements, review existing functionality, and finalize the roadmap for the WordPress transition.
2. Data Evaluation and Mapping
Before migration, EbizON performed an in-depth audit of the existing site:
- Identified all content types, including pages (Home, About Us, Publications), events, and donation systems.
- Mapped key functionalities (e.g., PayPal integration, Google Maps, social features) to their WordPress equivalents for seamless reimplementation.
3. Content Migration to WordPress
All major site content and functionality were recreated within the WordPress ecosystem:
- Core pages like Home, About Us, and Fellowships were rebuilt using a WordPress Page Builder, preserving the visual structure and user experience.
- Donation systems, search features, and custom tools were migrated and reconfigured for full compatibility.
4. Development and Customization
The team implemented a performance-optimized WordPress theme with significant customization:
- WP Page Builder and GenerateBlocks enabled a responsive, modular layout.
- Extensive customization ensured brand alignment and functional parity with the legacy system.
- Custom theme development was carried out to support unique design and feature requirements.
5. Thorough Testing and Quality Assurance
After development, the website went through a rigorous QA process:
- Performance testing using PageSpeed Insights validated Core Web Vitals compliance.
- Key optimizations included minified assets, caching strategies, and image compression.
- Functional testing covered donations, map integrations, and social media links.
6. URL Redirection and SEO Preservation
To maintain SEO performance:
- Existing URLs were retained where possible; 301 redirects were applied to deprecated links.
- SEO best practices were implemented, including schema markup, clean code, and metadata retention.
- Internal linking and site structure were preserved to protect search engine visibility.
7. Launch and Ongoing Support
Upon successful QA:
- The new WordPress site was launched with improved speed, performance, and security.
- Post-launch support included ongoing monitoring, issue resolution, and proactive maintenance.
