Project Overview
Prox Devices is a leading provider of advanced proximity technology, focusing on innovative, secure, and user-friendly access control devices. The brand aimed to transition from their existing Wix store proxdevices.com to a more scalable and flexible Shopify platform.
The primary goal was to enhance user experience, maintain SEO performance, improve site management efficiency, and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
Project Objectives
- Migrate all existing data (Products, Customers, Orders, Blogs) from Wix to Shopify.
- Redesign the website using a premium, mobile-friendly Shopify 2.0 theme.
- Preserve SEO performance and ensure proper URL redirections.
- Implement ADA compliance via third-party app integration.
- Enable secure payment gateways and social login options.
- Improve page speed and overall user experience.
Project Execution
1. Design and Discovery Process
A complete platform discovery phase was undertaken to assess functional and technical requirements. The design team selected a premium Shopify 2.0 theme that aligned with Prox Devices’ branding and optimized it for a seamless, responsive experience across all devices.
2. Design and Development
Using an Agile sprint model, the development was carried out in iterative phases. The team customized the theme to integrate brand-specific aesthetics, dynamic cart functionalities, and essential CMS pages, including:
- About Us, Press & Media, Warranty, Refund Policy
- FAQs, Troubleshooting, Compliance, and Affiliate Policy
Social media login options (Google, Facebook) were added to enhance user convenience.
3. Content Migration to Shopify
A complete migration process ensured accurate transfer of:
- Products: Up to 1,000
- Orders: Up to 1,000
- Customers: Approx. 150
- Blogs: All existing posts
Data integrity and consistency were prioritized to maintain the site’s performance and usability.
4. URL Redirection and SEO Preservation
SEO retention was central to the migration strategy.
- Pre-Migration: Site crawling, URL mapping, and benchmarking metrics were completed using tools like MOZ, Ahrefs, and Screaming Frog.
- During Migration: All URLs were redirected using 301s, XML sitemaps updated, and Google Analytics and Search Console configured.
- Post-Migration: Performance was monitored for keyword rankings, backlinks, and domain authority, ensuring minimal SEO disruption.
5. Thorough Testing and Quality Assurance
The QA phase covered:
- Functionality and UI/UX testing
- Mobile responsiveness
- ADA compliance verification
- Checkout and payment gateway testing
- Page load and speed optimization
Performance enhancement tools and optional speed boosters were employed to ensure smooth performance.
6. Launch and Ongoing Support
After successful User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and domain migration, the Shopify store was launched.
Post-launch, continuous monitoring of analytics, SEO performance, and user feedback ensured sustained growth and stability. Ongoing support covered maintenance, updates, and further optimization.
